Affirmation
I am honest with myself and others about my current capacity moment by moment.
I consciously invest and replenish my capacity throughout my day.
Journal Prompt
Between 0 and 10, what is my current capacity?
How much of it can I honestly invest today?
How can I replenish my capacity throughout my day i.e. food, rest, etc.?
Movement (Three Part Breath)
Benefits
A great grounding practice that relaxes your mind and body especially as we transition into the holiday season.
Identifies where your body is physically holding tension and stress. When your body is in a relaxed state, you’ll realize where it’s sore from stress similarly to if you did a strenuous workout and felt sore the next day. Examples: lockjaw, tense shoulders, etc.
A reminder to take a full range of breath (i.e. including your lungs and diaphragm). Usually when we’re stressed, our bodies tend to breath shallowly, because it’s too focused on the various tasks and thoughts at hand.
How To
Start by focusing on your belly with your eyes closed or softly open.
Inhale deep through your nose into your belly, then into your chest, and lastly into your shoulders.
Hold your breath for 3 counts.
Exhale through your mouth from your shoulders, then chest, and lastly from your belly until empty.
Continue for 11 rounds or for as long as your mind and body needs.
Afterwards, allow the practice to settle in by being still for 30 seconds before transitioning into other activities.
Journaling is strongly encouraged as a way to note down how you were before and after this breathwork practice.
