My name is Jess (she/they), and I am a Holistic Therapist. My goal is to help you care for your full self through movement and mindfulness.
Unlearning overwhelm and burnout
For most of my life, I always lived on the go. Overcommitting to loads of activities during high school. Overworking when I took on way too many tasks and projects when I worked in design and communications.
During this time, I thought that this was normal for me. Normal for my body to live day-to-day stressed and exhausted, both mentally and physically. Soon this “normalcy” ultimately led to the biggest shift in my life.
In 2017 after working until 2am, I was driving home despite being extremely exhausted. Two exits away, I thought to myself, “Let’s pull over and take a quick nap.” Only to wake up with my car on fire.
I had hit a parked bus head on after my body shut down due to exhaustion. I didn’t even realize what was going on until I got out of the car, work bag in hand, and took in the scene. Since that night, I knew that I could not participate in this “normalcy” that I basically prided myself on. That I no longer wanted to work myself to an early grave.
After surviving this near-fatal accident caused by overproducing, burnout and lack of boundaries, I started incorporating tools that helped me:
Tapping into my mind and body
🔎 Identify patterns that created anxiety, stress, and burnout;
🌱 Create boundaries that honor my current needs; and
😌 Cultivate a routine that nurtures my mind and body on a daily basis.
